Replacement Documentation
To export a used vehicle from Japan, an Export Certificate issued by the Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) is required. Many countries use this document to ascertain Type Approval and ownership.
In addition to the Export Certificate, Vehicle History Reports and Vehicle Status Certificates are also available from the MLIT regional offices.
Substitute documents can be applied for with the MLIT by JEVIC if they have been lost, destroyed or otherwise misplaced. Each document is stamped by JEVIC certifying the authenticity and approved translation included.
